What kind of game is Defenders of Hogwarts?

The official rulebook describes a contest between Hogwarts House Players and one Dark Arts Player. House Players move around the castle, use cards, and gather resources; they can coordinate with others. A House Player wins by earning two Defence Shields. The opposing player advances along the Dark Arts Path and positions Dark Arts pawns to meet a different victory condition.

Before your first session, read the setup and player-turn sections of the official rules. The rulebook recommends giving the Dark Arts role to the player most familiar with the game while everyone is learning.

Release date, Kickstarter & delivery

MinaLima’s Kickstarter funding period ran from June 30 to July 23, 2026. That campaign ending date is separate from when a copy reaches a player.

At our October 11 source check, the Hive project page lists October 2026 as estimated delivery for the base game and March 2027 for the additional Collector’s Box. These are estimates, not confirmation that orders have shipped or that the game is available at every retailer.
